IOCREST USB to SATA adapter Windows 10 drivers or fix needed thanks!

I have a USB to SATA drive adapter which is several years old. It shows in my Windows 10 Devices list as USB - ATA/ATAPI Bridge.
It lights up/powers on, but is not reading the drive. I don't have any reason to suspect the drive is totally dead (it may be). It's an mSATA drive from a Dell laptop attached to an SATA adapter card ( to fit into the SATA drive slot on the laptop), which is then plugged into my USB adapter. I need to pull data off of this drive, reformat and reinstall my Linux so I won't have to keep using this old, Windows10 laptop that apparently isn't compatible out of the box with this adapter (docs say compatible only up to Windows 8? What good is that??)
I've been searching online for information and potentially a driver that will fix this issue.
Any help would be appreciated a ton!!!

Has this combination of mSata to Sata to USB every worked? I would try two things:
    1. Create a Linux to Go (self-contained) USB flash drive. Boot a computer from it and then see if Linux recognizes your adapter combination.

    2. Replace you double adapter combination with a single adapter to go from mSata SSD to USB directly.

Telling us the exact make/model of the mSATA SSD would also help.
