New Canon G4210 Printer/Fax Wont Print Since Recent Update(s)

I have uninstalled/reinstalled drivers & I have uninstalled/reinstalled software - and can only access the FAX part of the machine which wont work because it's not connected to a phone outlet.. The Print driver was showing in DM but once a job is sent to print it vanished and I get an error (no number).

I gather a recent Windows Update ruined this, is there any fix that undoes the damage caused by an obviously untested release? No I am not an Insider.

You need a Landline phone line to send or receive a FAX. Are you trying to send a FAX?
If you are just printing a document, make sure you are choosing the Canon Printer and not the Canon FAX printer or .PDF printer.
Go to Settings/Devices/Printers and Scanners Is the Canon Printer listed here? Left click it and choose Manage and Print a Test Page. You can also Open Print Que to see what is Printing., if there are any print jobs that have failed, you can cancel the documents.

I’m aware of the FAX requirements - i’ve used that for years.
Tried everything possible but the Print goes offline as soon as I can restore it.
This has to be a Windows problem. Of course it’s possible that Canon might issue a patch, but unlikely.

Imagine my surprise a few minutes ago when my printer "woke up" and delivered not only a test page but the page I had hoped to print yesterday.
Case closed, for now. at least.
    Thanks for youre help.

    Hello @Ex_Brit,

You could also look in Event Viewer around the times the error occurred. This should hopefully give you an ID number and a Message relating to the error. This could be useful for any future errors and diagnostics.

    I hope this helps

Yes I was looking in there but can't seem to find anything related.
