The blurb here says windows 7 requires installing the driver.

I considered an 80$+ Startech card

For that sort of cost a second hand z390 with gen2 ports would make more sense.

May I ask why you need more USB ports? Doesn't your motherboard have enough?

BTW, you do realize the BEYIMEI card only supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 which is the same as USB 3.0.

The SATA Connector is also plugged in?
Many such cards need an additional power connection, designed as 4-pin Molex or Sata.
Leaving this unplugged the card will not work - my experience.
