System Hang On C Drive

    On a normally functioning system it imposes no noticeable overhead.
    Now that the corrupted files seem to be fixed, I may enable search indexing later and see if it behaves. For now, we'll live with slow system searches since we rarely use the function.

    Well the drive hang came back after a couple of days. CHKDSK, SFC, DISM, and Chrystal Disk Info didn't show anything new, so I uninstalled all of the February Patch Tuesday updates. While that was going on, MS installed the 03/05 updates even though I have WU paused until April. After this exercise, the disk hogging seems to have become a thing of the past. FireFox, Norton360, and ntoskml.exe no longer drive the C drive to 100% and keep it there even if they aren't using CPU cycles. Applications now load with the speed they used to and the HDD usage no longer stays at 100% for hours at a time.
