Hello @NE5,
I don't know if this helps, but it will give you the temperature of theCPU
. It is an extract from my Script in my signature.
Copy & Paste
the following ALL at once into aCMD Prompt
and pressEnter
.
Code:@echo off PowerShell ^ $List=(Get-CimInstance -Namespace root/wmi -ClassName MsAcpi_ThermalZoneTemperature ^| Where {$_.Active -Match 'True' -And $_.CurrentTemperature -ne 2732} ^| Sort-Object -Property InstanceName ^| Select -Property $_.CurrentTemperature ^| Select-Object ^ @{L='Current CPU Temperature';E={'{0:n0} C [Converted from ''Kelvin * 10'' to ''Celsius'']' -f (($_.CurrentTemperature - 2732) / 10.0)}} ^| ^ Format-List ^| Out-String -Width 1000).Trim("""`r`n"""); ^ if ($List.Length) {Write-Host """`n`n$List"""} echo. & echo ^>Press ANY key to EXIT . . . & pause >nul & Exit
I hope this helps.
Infrared thermometer. Probably don't want to spend the $30+ if you don't have access to one. It's what the medical offices used to check your temperature during Covid. I have had one for years as it's useful for checking temps. of things quickly. The fan suggestion was just to see if increased airflow would alter the CPU temps any. Did the CPU clocking get messed with somehow? Unlikely, but if its being overclocked, that would cause overheating.
What link? Open Hardware Monitor?
Guarantee it's a false positive.
This is the main page: Downloads - Open Hardware Monitor
yes, from the link Megahertz gave me. Needless to say, I didn't run it, but i was very surprised to see it throw up a red warning.
I suppose now I've rechecked it and had 2 good readings from 2 sites, I can possibly think my mobo is not overheating after all. Do you agree, or is there anything else I could do.
The PC has been perfectly fine since I dusted it out, there was some in there among the fan etc.
