This Installation Is Prohidden By System Policy.

    Windows 10 Home 64Bit
    Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.2006)
    Dell lnspiron 13 (7000 Series)

ERROR: " This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator. "

Been working on two Dell Inspirons. This one (Inspiron 13) won't let me install it's drivers from Dell. It gives me the above error.
I have tried these, and still get the error:

    And
Enable Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) in Windows 10 & 11 Home Edition - MajorGeeks

    More options:
7 Ways to Fix "This Installation Is Forbidden by System Policy" Error on Windows

You may need to know the registry key corresponding to that group policy.
It seems possible that registry tweaks corresponding to group policy may not be be correctable by the group policy editor.
Further- not all options are actually effective when trying to add the Group Policy Editor to Home.

See Policy Plus (freeware) - like the Group Policy Editor but with a good Find feature.

So far, I have seem to have tried it all, including the Policy Plus. The Group Editor (Windows Home) is now enabled and set to the correct setting, still I cannot install the Wi-Fi driver Intel 3165 and 7265 Wi-Fi Driver; been hectic for me. I have tried everything. I was able to install 19 other drivers. I went to Dell support to get the specific updates for this laptop. I still get the error ONLY when installing the Wi-Fi driver. I can only use wireless on this laptop.

Please, what else can I try?

    Thank you for your reply.

Is this a customer's PC- so you don't know what they may have done to it?

Are there group policies in force- what's the background?

Would you expect it to have been tweaked in some obscure manner, or is it from a reputable place?

    Fix 3- secpol perhaps?

Yep, I thought of uninstalling the existing Wi-Fi device in the Device Manager, but was there.
But again, how can a driver install if the device is not there?

The laptop is from my boss; he had upgraded his laptop so I got this one from him. He got it from Dell and he's not computer savvy to have done anything on it. I doubt anyone did anything to it in the past.

Just noticed the link you sent, let me try that out.

And there of course not any hidden drivers in Dev.Manager..?

If the BIOS tell you that is there no WIFI....(none), but there is a wifi-card present in the motherboard..( you have to open the PC to have a look)....then probably the wifi-card is kaput.

I have done that already, except the other option through the registry.
My "Prohibit non-administrators from applying vendor signed updates” policy and double-tap it". is Disabled.
What worries me is the non existence of the Network Device in the Device Manager.

If so.....try removing and reseating the WiFi card in its motherboard slot. You may be lucky.

I unplugged and plugged back, still the BIOS did not see it. Must be shot.
