Mouse wheel click results in unwanted pointer/wheel function

Hello. When I click on an empty space somewhere, the mouse pointer gets this look Mouse wheel click results in unwanted pointer/wheel function-go-away.jpg. I know how it functions but I want to get rid of it. How do I do that?
    Thank you.

Hi, you can use this free 3rd party program to disable/enable that- and more:
Mouse wheel click results in unwanted pointer/wheel function-1.jpg

    or

Depending on your mouse driver, you may have options in that to reallocate button functions.

    or

Download Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre. There is an option under wheel button to disable the wheel button.

    or

    - this article suggests how to disable this in particular browsers:
    Disable middle mouse button scrolling

For more, try a search for e.g.
    disable middle click scroll

I use the mouse wheel button all the time.

If you are using a web browser clicking the middle mouse button allows you to scroll up and down the page as fast or slow as you like by moving the mouse up a little or down a little.

Clicking on a link with the middle mouse button opens up the web page in a new tab

The middle mouse button also works on several windows programs like file explorer
