Can you retreive the data from a broken ssd?

Hi Cerawy,

Theoretically it may be possible to recover data from it, how much depends on the state of the SSD. You should let a professional do it though, they will have the right equipment for data recovery.

Well, if the disk is readable at all then you should be able to recover some or all of its data when it's connected that way [USB enclosure or SATA-USB connector].

A couple of years ago, the second disk in my computer [containing data not the OS] failed and Windows could not read it at all. I put it in a USB enclosure and managed to recover almost all the files that had been written in the few hours between my last backup & the failure.

Just copy from it. Don't write to it. Every write would reduce the chances of further recovery.

There is no defined procedure.

There are various utilities for data recovery but I suggest you try it in a USB enclosure first and then, if necessary, ask for help in your next post and include this

Are you sure that message is from the drive not the BIOS

If I was in the same position I would be trying Macrium to see if the drive can be imaged - either via Windows or via their recovery environment.

There are two kinds of drive failures: Logical and hardware.
Logical can be fixed with check disk or formatting. Hardware failures can't be fixed.
As your drive gives some info when you try to boot, it can be a software issue.
As you have a desktop, attach it to the MB and boot from another drive.
Open Disk Manager (C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc)
