Big performance issues - MS std. SATA AHCI controller 10.0.19041.1889

    Hello.

What's up with MS standard SATA AHCI Controller v10.0.19041.1889?

I have noticed a very noticeable decrease in performance on three different PCs with different chipsets (Intel and AMD). Installing Intel's AHCI drivers on Intel chipsets solves this issue but I prefer this driver, for stability reasons.

    Anyone?

Mokichu has some intel sata drivers posted here: [DRIVERS] Intel Chipset/MEI/SATA/VMD (1xx/2xx/3xx/4xx/5xx/6xx/7xx)
Being only drivers they will work regardless of motherboard manufacturer.
    - Intel SATA AHCI-RAID Drivers (Drivers Only) :
    Drivers - 4xx/5xx : 18.37.4.1007 WHQL [08/06/2022]
    Drivers - 2xx/3xx : 17.11.2.1004 WHQL [07/09/2022]
    Drivers - 1xx : 17.7.1.1010 WHQL [02/03/2021]

For AMD is it RAID drivers?

Thanks for posting. I think this mistery is probably solved. Today, when copying some big files from an usb 3.0 usb stick (100mb/s+ speed), I noticed speed was 2MB/s. It seems my old hard disk is about to die. I have been busy copying data onto another and I will replace it this sunday evening.

PS - I will mark this thread as solved as soon the replacement and testing is done.

PS2 - Speed decreased noticed on another two PCs was just:

    1. Placebo effect. 7th gen Intel i7-7700k. It performs as it should.
    2. Very slow AMD E4 APU. With a mechanical hard disk and a sad excuse for a cpu, this pc won't be faster anytime soon. It performs as it should too.
