What speed will an M2 run when fitted in an adaptor if the motherboard only has 1 M2 nvme port? Would it be better than a 2.5 SSD in SATA3?
When I installed my first 2.5" SSD the improvements were huge. Startup dropped from 3 min to 30 sec, a 6 factor and programs opens on a blink of an eye.
I was expecting to boot in less than 10 sec when I installed my M.2 - 1900 B/s. For my surprise the startup didn't change and I can only see the difference on the benchmark test.
I have no explanation why I cant notice the M.2 improvement.

Yeah, it's kind of like upgrading a 120 hp Prius to an 800 hp Dodge Challenger. And then upgrading the Dodge Challenger from premium gas to super premium gas for that extra 5 hp.

My motherboard has a Ryzen 5 5600G, so I am not using any of my PCI express slots. With an adaptor card to hold the second M.2 SSD, I have found a substantial speed increase over the M.2 fitted directly into the board. With the latest high end boards, this may not be the case.
Over the years, I have had at least 16 SSD's and only one has failed so far. The 5 M.2 drives are recent, but all AOK so far.
