    A tip for printers

Setting up a slightly older HP Officejet Pro 8610 as Wireless encountered an issue. The client had a new modem/router installed and it gave both the standard wireless [2G] and the 5G wireless. It turned out I had to change the Notebook connection from 5G to the standard then the printer could be found on Wi-Fi, wouldn't see the 5G connection. Sometimes technology outpaces us.

EDIT: Forgot to add this image:

You seem to be trying to connect directly to the printer ['WiFi direct'] rather than connecting the printer to the router's WiFi network ['network printer'].

If you connect it as a network printer to the 2.4GHz network then the router ought to handle the interaction between networks automatically so the printer is available to all network computers [both those connected to the 2.4GHz network & those connected to the 5GHz network].
Or connect the printer by ethernet cable to the router.

    And don't forget

It's helped me out of holes I've dug myself into a few times.

    All the best,
