SD Card works in camera but not in Windows

    Hi!

I have SD card. It used to work in my PC. However it works just fine with my digital camera. It can save photos and it can read photos. Now it no longer does. It does not even get mounted. It does not even show up in disk management. It does not even try to show up. If I put the switch on side of SD card to read only mode then after long time it shows up as unallocated partition in Disk Management. But as soon as I put it back to read/write mode it again does not show up anymore. I have tried restarting the computer but it has not helped.

I have Akasa Electronic ID and Smart Card Reader / 3,5" (AK-ICR-09) for reading my SD card.

Any hints how to solve this? Does windows 10 remember SD cards? Wonder could it be perhaps that I did not properly unmount it in past before removing it and now windows remembers it? And if such memory exists in windows then how can I make it forgot this SD card and make it as if I was inserting it for a very first time ever.

Update: Drive Tools for Windows seem to have worked. However I am not 100% sure so I can't really mark this as a solution.

Can you plug your camera in and read it that way if so get photos off then format on the camera

Is another computer available to test the card? I keep a pocketable USB SDHC card reader in my toolkit just for such testing, main thing was to get a newer one to accommodate the change from SD at up to 2GB to the SDHC that can read much larger capacities, could be older computers with built-in SD slot has the same issue. Check the slot with a different card. And a caveat, don't reformat the card in the computer if intending to keep using in the camera, format it there. Also, shut the computer down and pull the power cord out, replace and try again, if it's a Notebook also remove the battery and retry, sometimes there can be electrical issues, removing power usually normalizes things.

Went to computer shop, they were able to see the photos but they didnt know the answer to my problem. However I prersonally dont own another computer with sd card reader.

It's a desktop PC. Yes I have actually tried unplugging it from motherboard and then plugging it back in after reboot but it did not solve the issue. Actually the device name in my first post already hints that it's a desktop - you don't put 3,5" AK-ICR-09 inside notebook or if you do you deserve a medal for that .

I have found internal sd card readers to be rather unreliable, and it is easier to use a usb/sd card converter.

You could see of the sd card reader driver is up to date.

Internal one is more unreliable than usb one? Why? I find it strange that same SD-card and reader combination on same computer worked in past.

Got files from camera using USB cable. At least formating from camera did not help. Will have to see if deleting and recreating partition from linux helps.

Better to format it in the camera.

Cheap components to save money - last 1 year, 1 day then "boom".
