CD-ROM Missing & NVIDIA Audio Error

I'm experiencing a few problems apparently. I noticed my CD-ROM is not showing in 'This PC'. I opened device manage and found an issue. As Windows 10 removed the hardware and device troubleshooter I ran msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic in Cmd. It found a second issue as well but can not fix either one. The attached photos show much more. Ideas?

It looks like you need to get the driver for the slim type optical drive from ACER and install it.

I can't seem to find the acer slimtype dvd a da8aesh driver . Everyone is saying to uninstall and let windows install it's driver.... which is useless.

I haven't had to deal with driver issues in years!!! You kinda think we'd be at a place that basic hardware driver issues would have been resolved already.

Well, uninstalling the driver, and letting Windows find one... may actually work.
Windows 10 and 11, are pretty good at finding drivers.

If it doesn't work, you should still be able to find one at ACER.
You might have to use the laptop's SNID number, which should be on the bottom of the laptop.

Uninstalling it was the very first thing I tried. it's apparently just reinstalled wrong automatically.

This is the Acer driver page for my laptop. No CD-ROM driver that I see.

This is getting super annoying. I have a screensaver that won't turn on on my tower and now my laptop can't see the cd-rom. Basic stuff that I can't get fixed that I'll probably wind up doing a full OS install on both machines because of.

When you go to the ACER website, does it ask for your SNID number?

Yes it does but acer has apparently abandoned it in their search results. The link I posted is my laptop, I created that bookmark when I bought it. You're welcome to try my SNID.

I wonder if this could be addressed either by deleting any registry entry for the cd-rom that I'm guessing is guiding windows to install the same thing it's been doing which isn't working. Let it start the install from scratch. I also have Hiren's BootCD PE which I've never used, not sure if it could help some how.

Yeah... I dunno. That SNID turns up nothing.

As for the registry... I don't know how you would even go about finding those entries.
I can't ever remember having to install a driver for an optical drive.

I wonder if the optical drive itself might be.... going bad.
I guess it could also be the... connections.
Does it show up in Disk Management?

I dunno if it would help in this case, but an In-Place Upgrade (repair install), fixes most Windows problems, but leaves your files and programs intact.

Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Here is the short version of the In-place upgrade tutorial...

    DISABLE non-Microsoft:
    a) antivirus software
    b) firewall software
    c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)
Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free

Go here and get the Media Creation Tool and save it to your desktop.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

RUN the Media Creation Tool and use it to: Create an ISO image... save IT to your desktop.
This will be the latest version of the ISO image.
The ISO must be created in the same language as you are using in Windows, to be able to keep your Programs and Files.

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.

The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations. Your programs and data will be intact.
