    Yes, agree with all.
I think there is some problems with the terminology the OP is making. Hopefully those can be cleared up.

In post #6 the OP says "The drive is an IDE".
The "drive" (physical HDD) is most likely a modern SATA drive. I can't imagine a PATA drive ever made at 4TB.
In post #3 the OP says: "It is a SATA drive"

Also notice in post #6 that OP says: "Because my pc is AHCI"
Which would indicate that the BIOS is set to AHCI and Windows was installed in AHCI.

THe OP says the HDD is seen in BIOS, just not in Windows (Post #3)

I think this is all causing some confusion, thanks to the Google IT department.
I think we can assume this is a standard SATA HDD connected to a modern motherboard with standard SATA power and data cables, and it is recognized in BIOS, and work from there.

Yes, I have looked back through the op posts. The issue seems to be that it shows in bios, but not in diskmgmt.

This is perhaps the "Sabrent USB 3.0 to Sata External Hard Drive Lay-Flat Docking Station for 2.5 or 3.5in Hdd" mentioned by the OP in his first post

it says "UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) support for even faster performance. UASP requires UASP capable host system"

Does this have something to do with the disk not showing when connected internally? - I don't know - just a thought.

    @bnthomason

It might be helpful for you to connect the drive in the dock to the PC then post a screenshot of Disk Management - window expanded so we can see all the information - so we can see your disk structure.

Sorry for the late reply, I was at work. I do not have the external dock. Yes that is the one, and I did not notice the USB Attached SCSI Protocol bit. I was not the one who ordered that equipment, I got it from a computer store associate that works independently to help customers find the right computer components and equipment for a reasonable price.

I will have the drive dock by next sunday when I see my friend I gave it to and report back the screen shot of disk management when I get it.

I believe the USB Attached SCSI Protocol applies to the dock and how it transfers data to the PC over USB.
The HDD still looks to be a standard SATA hard drive that you can plug into the dock.
A standard SATA HDD should be able to be connected to the PC directly with standard SATA data and power cables.

bnthomason, can you take a photo of the drive label and post here as an attachment? It can clarify many doubts.

    sure thing.

I bought a different docking station (insignia 2 port docking station with usb 3.0). When I plugged in the docking station without the drive, windows did the "hardware inserted sound" I then turned off the pc, put the drive into the docking station, turned it on, loaded the pc, and it still didnt show up. Note that my pc sees the drive in the bios, in port 3. I will test without the drivr plugged in when I get home to see if it still sees it when it's not plugged it, its maybe locked into the pc even when unplugged. Which could explain why only that particular docking station works

If it shows up on BIOS it should show up on Disk Manager (C:\Windows\System32\diskmgmt.msc) even if it doesn't show on Explorer due to a different format.

Please post a whole window Disk Manager image of your drives. Don't forget to expand the columns so we can read them. How to Post a Screenshot of Disk Management
If you have a MiniTool or AOMEI Partition use it instead or Windows disk manager.

NOTE: Seems the website attachments and image upload on this website is not working for me on either chrome or firefox. So I'll have to use references from google drive

POST: Found a strange issue concerning my drive detection. I unplugged my drive from all ports, including internal and external docking station, and it still shows in the bios even when unplugged. This is very baffling. I am contacting my friend to see if he has a similar issue.

The drive descriptions is here at this image.20220726_180820.jpg - Google Drive drive unplugged beside the computer bios info is here: 20220726_182200.jpg - Google Drive

Even more strange is when I plugged the device into the pc, it finally showed in disk management... without a drive letter. I tried populating the drive, but it returned "this device is working properly", still with no drive letter. I couldn't format, create new partitions, delete partitions, and the drive was apparently empty.
