Moving data partition to a 2nd drive (keeping the same drive letter)

I'm running Windows 10 v21H2. I currently have a single drive with separate partitions for Windows and Data. The data partition is assigned letter D: . I'm adding a second drive. I want to move Data to the new drive and want the new drive to also be assigned letter D:

I have both Acronis True Image 2018 and Acronis Disk Director. I also run CrashPlan which is configured to back up D: (data) continuously.

Just wondering sequence to move data to the new drive where new drive also assigned letter D: - so no issue/confusion with my Crashplan historical backups. (I know how to move or clone data to the new drive. Just not sure best way to make sure new drive comes up letter D: so no Crashplan issues)

    TIA

    - Turn off CrashPlan
    - Do the file copying to the new disk [copy it, don't move it]
    - Use Disk mgmt. or equivalent to assign letter E: to your existing D:
    - Use Disk mgmt. or equivalent to assign letter D: to the new disk
    - Turn on CrashPlan
    - Tidy up only when you are sure everything has been completed correctly - remove original D:\'s files, start using original D:\ for whatever its new purpose is.

    All the best,
    Denis

Your best option is to use built in robocopy a simple CMD and use /mirror option which will give an exact copy of the drive then it's a simple matter if in disk management chancing the new drive to letter d. It can be dodgey using 3rd party backups as often they change the format so old backups can't be recovered robocopy is ms tool for servers so copy files in original format
