Unable to Select Microsoft Printer Driver - Help!

Hi guys... I'd like to add a printer driver thats available on windows already. But it when I select it, it fails to be selected as such. The 2 printer drivers I see on my PC are: Microsoft XPS Document Writer and Microsoft Print to PDF. When I'm unable to elect either one which makes no sense. Can you guys help?

    Hi.

What printer are you trying to add and how is it connected?
What software is presently installed for it?

    I did.

Exactly what printer are you trying to select and/or install?

You cannot add a driver when it is already installed.

What exactly do you mean? Where & exactly what are you selecting? What happens or is shown when you select it?

Do you mean that you see these as available choices of printer when you press Ctrl-P or select Print from a menu?
If so, did your earlier comments mean that you click on one of these [after pressing Ctrl-P or selecting Print from a menu] but they fail to show up as highlighted [i.e. selected]?

Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off.

Tick the 2 boxes for Microsoft print to PDF, and Microsoft XPS Document Writer.> OK.

Settings > Devices > Printers and scanners, those two options should be in there, and indeed selectable in application printer choices.

Scroll down page to "Allow Windows to manage my default printer". UNtick box.

    Restart.

    Hello @yahanna,

To see if the OS has the 3rd-Party Driver installed [ Printer ], Copy & Paste the following into a CMD Prompt and press Enter . . .

    Code:

PowerShell "Get-WindowsDriver -Online | Select ClassDescription, ClassName, ClassGuid, ProviderName, BootCritical, DriverSignature, Driver, OriginalFileName, @{Name='Date';Expression={Get-Date -Date $_.Date -Format D}}, Version | Sort-Object -Property ClassDescription, ProviderName, Date, Version | Format-Table -Autosize | Out-String -Width 1000" > %UserProfile%\Desktop\3rdPartDrive.log

It will output a 3rdPartDrive.log file on the Desktop.

If you have a Relocated Desktop then change the output path accordingly.

    I hope this helps.
