Surface 5 0n Win 10 Pro
I have just bought a second hand Surface 5 pro. Very good but.
When I finalised all the windows updates I caught a glimpse of something 'firmware error, not downloaded'. I downloaded one of those free trial driver progs and it told me that there were 27 files needed updating and all seemed to be intel or system related.
Is there a microsoft or intel address I can go to that will check my tablet and download as necessary? Win 10 pro is running beautifully and up to date but Update is not repeating the firmware warning anymore.

'firmware error, not downloaded' is probably a BIOS update that failed downloading. Go to the Surface 5 web page and download the latest BIOS file and install it, preferably using a BIOS update (if available).
For the MS updates the way to go is Windows update.
For the Intel, use Intel® Driver & Support Assistant

Open Device Manager. Is there any yellow alerts of missing drivers?

yes mate. The tablet device manager tells me tpm is yellowed. Thats all. Apart from that I am delighted with the 'new' tablet.

There is a short "keystroke" procedure to go into the BIOS, but it does have the TPM chip, so no worries abot Windows 11.

Now, the TPM should be enabled by default, but here's how to see without going in to the BIOS:
The easiest way to check the state of your TPM on a Windows 10 machine is to go to Device Security.
You can do this by pressing the Windows key and typing device security and clicking on it.
From there, click the Security Processor details link.
You’ll see if the TPM is active in that area.
If not, you will need to go into the BIOS and turn it on:

Have fun!
