Yes, but you have to buy a whole new NUC.

Or you could buy a BeeLink Mini PC. I use the SEI8 with the 8279u CPU. It's about $459 right now from Amazon.

The new 11th gen Intel Nuc is available for around $730

I think It's going to be sometimes cheaper if I upgrade to 8th gen or newer instead of buying brand new NUC mini computer

The CPUs are soldered in, so you'll have to buy a new motherboard and CPU.
It'll be cheaper just to buy a new NUC.

It would be if everything wasn't soldered together. You cannot really upgrade it unless you just buy a new one.

Perhaps he'll believe it if enough people tell him. Not sure that enough have, so far.

Yeah, mini pc's don't really lend themselves to being upgraded.

The beelink PC that I linked to above, has WIndows 11 Pro now pre-installed on it. I've been quite happy with mine. I got it for $475...that was 16GB RAM, 512G NVme, Core i5-8279u, 2 HDMI ports, 4 USB ports, USB C, Bluetooth 5 support and Windows 10 pro. The fact it came with an OS license sealed the deal for me.

I clean installed Windows 11 pro on mine. Was a piece of cake, except for the audio driver which took some searching for. I upgraded my RAM to 32GB and added a 500GB Sata SSD to mine.

Micro servers e.g HP Proliant GEN 10 or some of those new micro PC's will have "embedded CPU" on the Mobo.

That said however the newer BELINK PC's are brilliant for that -- attach an external 4 Bay RAID HDD enclosure and no probs (easily support 4 X 16TB HDD's !!). And as @pparks1 says -- up to 32GB RAM and have a 500GB internal SSD -- blows away any conventional desktop and has a tiny footprint too.

    Cheers

I didn't really need 32GB in my BeeLink mini PC, but there is a story behind why I have it.

I ordered my first Beelink kit and it had 16GB of RAM, and it was 2 x 8GB sticks. But that kit had some problems and it was bluescreening very regularly. I tried a handful of different installs and such and it kept happening, so I sent it back to Amazon for a refund and got another BeeLink.

My new BeeLink came, and while it still had 16GB of RAM, it was 1 x 16GB stick of RAM. For just $59 I could get a second 16GB stick, which allowed me to run dual channel memory and also gave me a bit more memory for running some VM's if so desired. Zero problems with blue screens on the new kit.
