HP Spectre 360 15" UHD: NO camera after Windows 11 upgrade

Spectre 360 15-eb1043dx UHD, expensive piece; after recent upgrade to Windows 11, no camera found. Easy .... go to HP website, find driver, install - except there is no camera driver on their site. No camera driver under Window 10 versions nor under Windows 11. ? sheesh

I see a number of posts on HP website about various camera fails on this and related models, none of which have answers worth the proverbial "Hoot". Have any of you solved this one? Could I just try force installing a generic camera driver?

It’s probably either missing drivers or antivirus issues. I’d say look for your camera module name driver first, before troubleshooting. In terms of antivirus issues it’s something only to worry about if you’ve installed antivirus that could block your camera.

Please guys, i need just a little pointer here.
This HP Spectre 15-eb1*** has NO camera in Device Manager. NO imaging device except a printer. There is no "Camera" category in Device Manager. I have exposed all hidden devices, and run down the ones that were cryptic and none of those devices is a camera. I know where the physical switch is and flipped it. I do not know if the switch itself is good:: the only indication is a simple cam icon that is either clear when you flip "on", or slashed when switch "off". There is no cam LED lit. all camera settings in "Settings" are promiscuous. There is no virus nor antivirus problem. The system is lightly used, no iffy programs or services. There are no settings in BIOS camera-related.
The BIOS is updated to the latest: when I first started working on it, it had the immediate predecessor BIOS.

I have no way of knowing what device [mftr, HW ID, anything] is SUPPOSED to be there, because HP only lists Windows 10 versions [3] and one entry for Windows 11: NONE OF which show a camera driver anywhere in the stack of drivers, so it is possible that it is aggregated under some other driver install package but nothing in the descriptions even hints at such.
I have working examples of HP's with CAmeras working, and one is Generic [that is, using a basic MS driver] and the other is Realtek. I can force-load those drivers but no devices found. It smells like a BIOS issue, but I have had this same sort of mystery with BT radios a number of times: NO clue anywhere to the device's existence UNTIL the device install package is found and run, then it appears.

If you have a Spectre laptop could you please post the Driver detail?

I have the same laptop as you (15-eb1043dx) and found your thread while trying to figure out why my laptop fails during the Windows 11 upgrade process. The picture below are the camera drivers shown in my device manager after my computer reverted back to Windows 10.

When you flip your camera switch, do you see the little flap cover and uncover the camera? When the camera switch is off, the hardware actually puts a little cover over the camera (you'll see little black and white diagonal stripes in the rectangular camera window when the camera is covered and off) and actually disconnects the camera's internal USB connection from the system. When I turn my camera switch off, the camera disappears from Windows 10 device manager. Maybe something isn't working right with your camera switch or it's stuck off?

Not to hijack your thread, but did you have any other issues upgrading to Windows 11? I seem to have some driver issue causing it to bluescreen during the install.

I just realized you probably wanted this picture as well.

I updated a bunch of drivers in Windows 10 and then managed to successfully upgrade to Windows 11. My camera still works. It shows up the same in device manager as it did in Windows 10.
