    Windows 10 64bit Can't find network printer (EPSON XP-960)

    Hi Everyone,

I hope you're doing well? And Happy New Year!

I have an EPSON XP-960 printer, and for some odd reason, windows can't find it anymore; it was working fine before, and the printer works fine as I can print from mobile phones and laptops etc...

When I try to install the printer via "Print Management" and use the printer's IP address, windows can find it! But can't install it?

Even when I download the XP-960 drivers, windows shows I have no ports? I'm unsure what I should do next here as I'm lost.

    Things I have tried:
    I looked on online.
Re-installed the drivers (but I can't since the driver needs to find the printer).
SFC/scannow as admin (no issues found).
Restarted the printer spoof in services.
I told my printer it's a good device.

    Thank you!
    -Cat

Hi, I have an Epson XP-960. It is Wi-Fi only, so I have to ask if during the software install you setup Wi-Fi to connect to your network? That seems to be what the install Wizard is also saying?

First is to check the PC's Wi-Fi is on and can pick up the printer, after....

You can check Network status by powering on the machine, and tapping "setup" on the LCD panel, scroll to "Network Settings", then tap "Network Status". If it's connected, it'll show the name, Network name, and IP address.

And since the install CD auto connects to the internet to get the latest drivers and software, I suggest you use it and follow the instructions.

Make sure to follow the install instructions to a T and also do a reset on the printer before the install. How to Reset Epson Printer to Factory Settings - Printer FIxes

Connect with USB for the install and to setup the wifi connection between printer and Gateway AP.

Try installing the printer not via the wsd port, but instead via the tcp/ip port.

When did this behavior begin? Was it after a Windows Update?

As one with that exact Epson model (XP-960), re-evaluating the OP's post, I see the printer IS connected to the network, so that's good. Since the printer is on the network and working, there's no need to "reset" it, cause...

    1) They say can print from other devices... "and the printer works fine as I can print from mobile phones and laptops etc..."
    2) The printer is found and shows an IP address as seen in image 4.

The issue thus appears to be Windows, NOT the printer. With that, I'm not understanding why a "manual" connection setup is needed? Why not simply go to Devices and Printers on the machine you want to use the printer on and click the "Add a printer" button?

Also, there should be no need to check the "Share this printer" checkbox (image 3). The printer is already on the network. With that, try unchecking the box and trying again.

Anyway, this is from my main rig which is where the printer was initially installed and setup...

This is the printer on my backup system...

All I did was click add a printer and it was found and added. Await the OP's response for clarification.

We will see when the OP responds, but my understanding of the post is that the printer does not show up in any normal way in Windows. Just in the BIOS. The problem would then be how to get it to be detected by Windows.

Uh, I'm not aware of any printer ever showing up in a BIOS

But yes, being detected by Windows appears to be the issue. Why is the question? I know it's not a compatibility issue, as I have the same printer and mine works on both Windows 10 and 11.

Also note once the printer is setup on the Wi-Fi network (done from the printer itself), there is no need to do it again unless it was removed. It isn't removed as the OP said they can print from other devices. Anyway, the point here is even if you reinstall the OS, you wouldn't need to re-do the Wi-Fi setup.

In fact, when you get to the network (Wi-Fi) setup from the install software for the printer, you will be given the option to setup or tell the software the printer is already on the network. The software will then scan for the printer and connect.

Why this isn't happening is the mystery, and why I await the OP as I'm curious as to what they are doing setup wise.

Have you ever tried WIC Resetter? I used to have similar problem with different kind of Epson Printer Model and after the resetting it was working flawlessly. I am not sure if that tool supports your model (EPSON XP-960) but you can always read the documentation at 2manuals.com and see if your printer model is supported there.
