    Power Outage or hardware?

Hi my pc: 10850K stock 4800mhz

    2x16 GB DDR4 GSKILL 3200mhz XMP

    Seasonic Tx-850 Ultra Titanium

Gigabyte Rtx 3090 Gaming ( 2x8pin,2 separate pcie cables )

    Asus Z490 Maximus

I have an question. 5 days ago i had momentary power outage for brief moment, during launching Metro Exodus.

    Pc shuts off.
When power back pc not booted itself. I just pressed reset button to turn on pc.
In bios i have option RESTORE ON AC POWER - ON.

Also when i cut power by pressing off BUTTON on power cord for second and then turning on ,pc shutdown but next it will booting itself on.
Is any difference between brief brownout and turning off/on power in power cord?

THanks. If that was momentary power outage why pc shutted down and not rebooted?

Fliping switch OFF/ON in power cord makes pc reboot.

Or just it was psu issue then?

    @xxx123

When the PC has power loss it shuts OFF to protect the PC.
    It's supposed to do that.

The BIOS setting you are referring to, doesn't do what you think it does.

Yes. Because the motherboard doesn't SEE that as power loss.
It interprets that as if you pushed the Restart button.

The PC is NOT supposed to automatically restart after power loss.

So for what is that option RESTORE ON AC POWER - ON. ?

Also for pc there is difference between real power loss and pulling off/on power cable or flipping the switch on power cord ?

That's for when you TURN the power back on... not for when it comes back on by itself.

You DON'T want the PC to come on by itself after a power failure... that can damage the PC.

Ghot, actually this is what PC supposed to do. In case of power outage.. this option enables the PC to automatically power on when power is reestablished..

I guess, you were right on the short power OFF/ON interruption.

That option:Turn on after AC Power Loss

So how this is working? I was thinking that pc should boot itself up when power is restored after brownout/outage.

    Correct.

But I wouldn't play too much with it. It is not something that any equipment is built for... One of your system components will fail, sooner or later
