HP Omen Gaming Laptop Issue

Recently started having this issue again

It had it since i first got it, but i was unable to get it to fedex to have it shipped out for Warranty repair at the time.

Issue is When come back from doing something else, touch it, and sometimes feel static discharge on the outside of the case of the machine and it shuts completely off

Done it Twice on Tuesday, after that i was like forget it

Should i run chkdsk on the storage drive next time load it up?

and Hopefully Problem doesn't present itself each time i use it for now on--as now out of warranty so probably would cause alot to get it fixed properly like i should've when first bought it, but since i don't drive, Family members was no help at the time, so i was like fine i'll use it as best i can since

Hi, consider what in your environment is generating the charge - from shoes to clothing to flooring; perhaps too the air is very dry.

You have two potential kinds of risk:
- risk to the hardware
- risk of corrupting the disk contents one way or another.

You can (and should, as is endlessly advised by members here) routinely and regularly use disk imaging of at least all the partitions comprising your O/S, e.g. Macrium Reflect (free/paid + large enough external disk).

I just used a System Restore point, unexpectedly resulting in a BSOD. I had to restore C: from my recent image- first time for years.

Note: I keep my external image disk stored separately from my PC.

I do system images usually monthly on Laptop (full) and incremental every other day at this point, do have Macrium Reflect 8 Home Editon

Unforuately not much room to store too seperate from the Computers, do stick the Image backup External drive underneath tv stand behind glass doors though once done with it for the systems

guess will just hope whatever im wearing next time results in less static shock, so laptop stays on when i'm using it next time, or get up and do what i need to prior to using it and hopefully not have to get up the entire time using that machine, and prevent the issue entirely

You could, of course, arrange to discharge yourself to something else before touching it.

Think Will when Come back upstairs from doing something no matter how small the task, make sure i touch the metal on Main Desk prior to using Laptop machine next time i have it on.

Plan is to have it on sometime today or tomorrow before i update the nvidia drivers completeing next image backup on both systems
