    Please excuse me if I am being dumb, but I am new to the iPhone and have no idea about how to do what I want to do?
    I need to be able to transfer photo's from the iPhone to the PC for editing purposes, also to transfer documents when needed?
    What you suggest is exactly what I need, but no idea how to set this up?

    Hi,

    Install Itunes and Pair your Phone with it. It will give you full control on the Phone up to to positions of your icons in screens / install, remove software / Sync your libraries / etc.

    There's also software that can enable your Phone to dynamically send every pictures you take to any computer you want shot by shot

    Your can also use Bluetooth to quickly trow pictures to any BT destination available.

    Connectivity has greatly improved and the problem is more to choose the best way for you to do it, than doing it...

    iTunes would have to be installed on your Windows computer.

    FWIW, I use 3rd party software installed on my iPad (Documents by Readdle) to move files to and from Windows (along with doing other file-related operations that iOS makes difficult). It works on iPhones, too. I don't use iTunes.

    Edited to add:
    Access to Apple's iCloud services is available for Windows, so you could share files there, too.

    To transfer music to or from your iPhone or computer, you need to access it through iTunes.
    If you just want to transfer photos or other documents from your iPhone to your computer or verse visa, then when you plug your iPhone into the computers USB port with your USB Charging Cable, and unlock the phone, you will get a message on the phone to "Trust" this device. Once you click OK, the iPhone will show up as one of the drives on you computer via File (Windows) Explorer. Your Photos will be in the DISM folder on your phone, you can drag and drop or copy and paste these photos to your Pictures folder on your PC.;
