    When you did that, did it restart and boot to a command line version of Partition Wizard, which then showed the progress of the resizing before restarting and booting back to windows? If not, then the resizing did not take place for some reason.

    As you have the paid version, you could make the bootable version and try with that.

    Yes, when the pc rebooted a command line version of partition wizard went through its process and stated that it was successful but as we know it was not. I will try with a bootable version tomorrow.

    Update on how to extend C: drive when unallocated partition is to the left of the C: drive.

    I used MiniTool Partition Wizard Pro.
    1. Created a bootable CD and booted the pc
    2. Clicked the Move/Resize Partition option
    3. Changed the unallocated space before the C: drive to 0MB
    4. Clicked Apply and the unallocated partition moved to the right of the C: drive

    1. Now I was able to extend the C: drive as the unallocated partition was to the right of the C: drive

    So the trick is to Move/Resize the C: partition to have 0MB before it, which will move the unallocated partition to the right of the C: drive and then extend the C: drive by the amount on the unallocated partition to its right!

    Partition Wizard could probably have extended C: in both directions, saving you a step. But that's academic as you've succeeded now, which was the main thing.

    I tried with the Move/Resize option to drag the handle to the left but it did not move.
