    Samsung Magician false alarm?

When I started my computers with Samsung Magician installed today, a notice popped up on each saying my 970 EVO NVMe drives needed firmware updates. But when I opened Magician and checked the updates tab, it said I'm running the latest f/w. Also, there was no new firmware available at Samsung. Strange.

Are you running the latest Magician v7.0.0? Do you have the latest SSD FW according to their website?

Yes, I'm running 7.0.0. I actually downloaded the latest f/w files and checked them out. They are the same versions in the drives (1 EVO & 2 EVO Plus) now.

Too funny I had reason to reboot just now and got popup the you described, but Magician says my FW is up to date. I have a different model non-m.2 SATA SSD BTW

I have a Samsung SSD. I tried Samsung Magician software... I got rid of it.
If there's a firmware update for my SSD, I'm sure I'll hear about it.

I think you are both misinterpreting that notification. I got it too, but to me it reads as being a just a 'helpful tip' notification, not a notification that my firmware actually needs updating (it doesn't).

That DOES look like a tip. I'd expect firmware version numbers if it really needed updated.

Thanks for the tips guys I hope other software vendors don't follow suit. Just tell me when there's an update to install.

I actually got the same thing; however, all of my SSDs/NVMe drives and their firmware are up to date... according to the same app telling me to update

Helpful tips/notification/nag-ware, whatever you call it, the annoyance is the popups!
