UltraTouch Seagate drive not detected by Acronis boot/rescue disc.

I have a new Seagate 2 TB Ultratouch external drive which is self-powered from a USB outlet.
This drive contains, among other data, an Acronis Drive Image which I want to recover on my HDD using the Acronis boot/rescue CD.
Unfortunately the Acronis rescue CD does not detect the new Ultra Touch external drive, even though Windows 10 detects it under " My Pc" along with the other drives.
So far I have done all my Drive Image recoveries with another older Seagate Flash drive, powered with an adaptor. The Acronis Boot disc detects it, why not the new one? . This external drive now is full, so I decided to buy the Ultra Touch.
How can I fix this?

If you have the new Seagate external plugged into a USB 3.0 or newer port, this can cause the problem.
Try plugging it into a USB 2.0 port. If your case ports are all 3.0 (Blue Tongue) then use a 2.0 port on the back of the PC. If it is a laptop examine the ports and use one that does not have the SS (SuperSpeed) symbol.

Also: another trick is to boot into the BIOS settings, wait for 30 seconds or so, then boot from the rescue boot disk from the settings.
This allows the drive time to spin up and be recognized before the BIOS needs to boot from it.

BTW: Older PCs need USB 3.0 drivers to load before those 3.0 ports will work.

I don’t know if I’m on USB 2.0 or 3.0. I have 2 USB ports in the front of the tower, which never worked and 4 in the back. They work. I also have a powered HUB with 6 USB ports , which works fine.

I not too sure about booting into BIOS.
I did open the BIOS with the F2 key. I went into the BOOT tab. The priority sequence was
1.user floppy
2.CD DVD,
3. HDD,
4.Network,
5.USB Hard Disk,
6.USB cd/DVD,
7.Bev and
8. UEFI
I didn’t touch anything, I waited 30 secs and then I booted into the Acroinis Boot CD. The Ultra Touch mini-Drive, as usual, was not detected by Acronis.
Earlier today, however, when I booted a first time from the Acronis CD, to my surprise, the Seagate Ultra Touch drive was finally detected..
Unfortunately, when I clicked on it to locate the Drive Image, a black screen popped up with something being processed, in white small characters. It was computer lingo and I didn’t have a clue.
For sure it was not the contents of the mini-drive. Eventually I rebooted the computer because I wasn’t going anywhere.
This is all. May be I have to give up on this.

When you are in the BOOT Tab in BIOS, select the USB Hard Disk.

There should be a selection in those settings to choose an option to boot from on the next startup.
The list you are looking at sets the boot priority on every startup. You could use that - set the USB Hard Drive at #3 and HDD after it, then after the test set it back to #5.

There also should be a key you press on startup to open a Boot Menu. This could be F8 or F12 - it's different for different manufacturers. But there should be a message in the BIOS main page that says what key it is.

Start the PC, press the Boot Menu key, when the Boot Menu opens - highlight the USB Hard Disk and press ENTER.

I have changed the BIOS sequence as per your instructions. At first. the Ultratouch drive was still not detected. However I remember having an older Acronis CD boot disk from 2012 wich I kept as a back up and never used. I tried this one and the Ultratouch drive was finally detected!
I don't know if it was because of the Boot sequence change or may be a glitch in one of the the two Acronis boot disks. May be both!
I didn't change the BIOS boot sequence back to the original sequence, though, just in case.

Yeah, I also have an Acronis 2012 boot CD as well as 2017.
The problem with the 2012 CD was that it would not boot into a UEFI environment without enabling the CSM (Compatibility Support Module) in the BIOS settings.
The 2017 CD would boot in UEFI if I selected it from the Boot Menu, but not if I didn't.

I don't recall having any problems with my external drives not showing up once it booted into Acronis, but all my external drives are self powered desktop models. (It's the portable models that get their power through the USB connection).
I'm using Macrium Reflect now on a boot USB thumb drive, so it's been a while since trying it.
