Hey Ghot I think your way off base here. My original post was this "I'm wondering, I have a 4.5TB HD. On that drive I would like to make 1 partition to receive files, browse files, and write files. What I don't want to happen is if I go to reformat the HD or want to delete that partition I can't!"

What does your reply have to do with what I asked?
    Thanks

You can pretty much "always" delete then format a partition.

I see you've used some of the 4.5TB drive. Just right click that drive, and choose: resize/move, to shrink the used space down to say... 1.5TB. Then you can right click the remaining space and start creating your partition(s).

As I mentioned... if later, you want to delete and/or format those partition(s) you create... you will be able to, with just a right click.
What makes you think you "won't" be able to delete/format the partition(s) you create?

    Nope to what??
The capacity of the drive is filled with the partitions already in place. There is no room to create new partitions. If you want to create a new partition to accept files, you have to shrink one of the other partitions to leave Unallocated Space to create a New Partition. This partition, can be deleted at any time and it will not change anything on the other partitions in a drive, that's what partitions are for. As Stated, You may find this easier to do in Minitool Partition Wizard, Easeus Partition Master, or Aomei Partition Assistant among many others.
