Yes, otherwise it won't hold the m.2 in place.
I'm wondering if that whole C area that is brown/copper colored has to be covered perfectly to secure it Steve? Also, I don't want to use the screw, even try it because it should be clean I'm thinking? I don't know what to clean it with, but have several things here?

What do you mean clean? Is it dripping with crud?

isopropyl alcohol or windolene or wash it with soap and water and dry it.. doesnt much matter, it is not an electrical contact.

I would see if it fits the hole first before trying it with the nvme .

If it fits the hole , and yet you want the head a bit bigger, you can make a little washer. Put the screw through a bit of plastic packaging. Then with the screw still there cut the packaging around the screw head, just a little bigger.

Here's a pic as I actually thought of that myself but the screw is pretty clean. I can wipe with alcohol though. The "covering" of the ssd inlet is a concern so got a pic of that, no use sticking the screw in before knowing if that's a "go" or not imo

Ok, file will not upload, and it's not too big.

I'm so tired now been on it since 6 a.m. I don't have a screw, that's right so I'll watch your tutorial after I get one somewhere, thanks a bunch :)

Need to add a question now that I got everything straightened up, put back together etc. Rested too I can tell ya but anyone that's taught their selves how to work on their puters knows what I am up against, LOL! I really love learning but it those little things that are so frustrating, but when it comes together, it's worth it

I found the set I needed with two, different heads on the M2 x3 I need. Their zinc to and I like the coating they talk about in description. I'll never run out of screw for computers I don't think, and pretty cheap, quick shipping

Ok, the package of screws I ordered got lost/delayed so I was able to just cancel. No loss since they were only for laptops I found out.

Can anyone help me pick out screws specifically for my PC?

Here is the number of the screw I need which I got this info on the HP Website:

    601010-001 SCREW, M2 x 3L, BLUE THRD LK, ZINC

Nevermind, I actually found a computer shop that will put the SSD in for me with no charge.

Thanks everyone on the thread! This one is finally solved
