Hi and thanks. I think it's going to take getting used to, as in sequence of events- which on -- which off first. It seems when I turn off the headset, when I turn it back on it should still be paired. Seems that disconnects it -- I then have to go to mp3 player and reconnect - is that re--paired?

I'll explain further after I do a few more connections. Also, thanks re: tv. I'll check out a few google tv/Bluetooth searches as recommended.

Yes, when you turn the headset back on it will still be paired. So all you need to do is tell the mp3 player to reconnect [and have a look in its settings to see if it can be set to reconnect automatically as soon as the mp3 player's Bluetooth is turned back on].

OK - makes sense. I have to reconnect each time but it is still paired. I will look to see if I can do an auto connect. This is kind of a funky player. I also paired it with the Dell so I can listen thru that as well while sitting looking out my window at the falling snow. Whew! Not yet thankfully but it will certainly be here. You are in England - you don't see too much of that I bet.
    Thanks again.

Correct, pairing is separate from connection. It only becomes unpaired when you deliberately "Remove device" from your Bluetooth settings for example.

    Hi folks
Paring with a TV - especially older TV's without blu tooth audio out is easily done via a Blu tooth transmitter -- plug the opt out or standard audio out (or even earphone socket on a TV) to the blu tooth transmitter then pair the transmitter with your device.

    Q.E.D !!!!

    cheers

I enjoyed using my headset when it cooperated. It seems that is rather a temporary state however. I turn it on - it says it is on. I turn on the mp3 player and go to the Bluetooth screen. It finds the headset and says it is connected. I go to the music page and scroll thru to the audio book and it plays. Hooray. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way. Often I get to the Bluetooth page and it says connected but I can't get to the music screen. Other times it does work.
My question is: does this sound "normal" -- as in am I out of sync and that's why this doesn't work. I try to duplicate my actions but when I do, it just does't work. Or is this a defective unit. Thanks for any thoughts.

I have never had these Bluetooth problems but I've never used Bluetooth with an mp3 player [only with Windows & Android].

So I really don't have anything useful to say.

    Sorry,

    Patrice,

You could try a general internet search for something like ruizu x52 bluetooth does not connect

There's not much help on their website but I did notice that there is a firmware download that might be helpful
X52-RUIZU-MP3 Player, Sports MP3 Player, Bluetooth MP3 Player, Clip-on MP3 Player, Voice record, Bluetooth Speaker
and, on another page, there are instructions for how to do it
Firmware Update-RUIZU-MP3 Player, Sports MP3 Player, Bluetooth MP3 Player, Clip-on MP3 Player, Voice record, Bluetooth Speaker

They also provide a support email address at the bottom of the page [under Contact us]. But it's a Hotmail address which does not inspire confidence.

I have not used an mp3 player for a decade. I used to have
    - mobile phone [old-style, just voice calls & text messages]
    - digital camera
    - SIM-card dongle on the computer as a mobile broadband connection
    - mp3 player
    - [when travelling light] stacks of written notes about key info as well as paper maps
Then I bought an Android smartphone so I had a single lump that replaced all of them. I have never looked back.

    All the best,
    Denis
