How to get Samsung S10+ to be seen on Windows 10

Hi.
Before posting this topic I did have a check and looked at the topic on Connecting Android to Windows 10.

I have Samsung S8+ which works on my windows 10 thanks to the guidance and assistance of members on this forum.

However an old friend wants his Samsung S10+ installed on his Windows 10 PC without having a microsoft account.

Old mate did try to set up a microsoft email account but was incorrect , tried few times to delete that microsoft account but no joy, Each time he tried to go through the same process on adding the phone, he encounters the same problem, so he gave up.

Old mate wants to connect the phone so he can access his boat and fish photos but without having the need to create a microsoft account. Is there a way around this?

The other, worst case scenario is do a clean install and start from scratch.

Any assistance / suggestions would be greatful.

Why are you talking about using a Microsoft account? I have never heard of that.

With both my old Samsung S7 and now my Samsung S21 all I have to do is

• Plug the phone into the computer's USB port
• Make sure phone screen is unlocked
• Navigate to This PC in Windows Explorer.
• You will see the phone under Devices and drives

You can then copy photos to your computer

Thanks for that, I did try that earlier today on three occassions but it does not see the Samsung Phone.

Strange that the operating system cannot detect or see it. I even downloaded and installed the Samsung USB connector. Something has gone skewy.

If you want a wireless connection you can use the Your Phone app. You can download it from the Microsoft Store in Windows 10.

Note the Your Phone app works on many newer Samsung phones. For example, it works on Samsung Galaxy S9 and newer phones.

From the Your Phone app you can do this on your phone:

• Show Notifications
• Show Messages
• Show Photos and copy them to your PC
• Show Apps
• Make and receive Calls

It should work. Try this

• Connect the phone to the computer with a USB cable
• On the phone swipe down from the top of the screen to show notifications
• You should see a notification about USB there. Make sure it is set to transfer files not just charge the phone.

Other things to try are

• Restart the phone. Sometimes this resets things.
• Use USB debugging. Only use this as a last resort.

That's the option I tried earlier but requires one to sign in with Microsoft Account. Old mate created a Microsoft Account but had a typo, and does not use it and never had to use it as he uses Gmail.

Yes USB driver for that samsung phone. I have just downloaded the latest one,

When the phone is connected via USB, nothing shows. not even new device detected screen.

I'll be at old mates place on Wednesday morning and try again.

I did see this link How to install Samsung USB Driver on Windows Computer and followed the instructions, message came back already installed so I'm stumped as to why it cant see it. Samsung phone icon does not show up in File Explorer.I'm certain I allowed permissions on that Samsung S10+ phone.

Something has gone astray or I've missed a step somewhere, it can be frustrating when things don't go right.

Thanks for that workaround, He has a desktop pc. I have not heard it make that sound, sound works as I played a Youtube video file on his pc. I'll take my laptop over to his place and see if it works on mine. I'll take my usb cable to his place and have a play. I'll also use my phone in his pc and see what developes. All trial and error, process of elimination. hey!

After I connect my phone to the computer with a USB there is a notification on the phone. Swipe the screen from the top to see the notifications. Look for USB settings notification. The setting for USB needs to be set to transfer files not charge phone. Here are a couple of examples:
