Unfortunately, though I have had success with this in the past, it no longer seems to work with the latest build of Windows 10 Pro/64.
The "UNCHECK the 'Show compatible hardware'" option in the instructions is no longer available. It goes to "Show All Devices" Scanners are not among the options. Bummed.

GOT IT!
My post 1 still works in the latest version of Windows 10. I keep having to reinstall the driver via Device Manger after Windows updates. The recommended Perfection 2400 driver is under Imaging Devices / Epson in Device Manager.
Yep. Found it, somehow. Imaging devices were limited to a few cameras...when I opened Device Manager as an admin, the options were greater. I guess MS doesn't want us to hurt ourselves. Shame on Epson for this B.S.
One thing that goes along with this issue is called Planned Obsolescence which is devices becoming unusable whenever newer versions of the OS is released. It's mostly economics, if no longer produced and none being sold there is no money coming in from that product to pay the programmers to update software which eventually results in putting devices in the landfills. I've had better 'luck' in using the Pro versions of MFPs and support for them than the much cheaper consumer versions. As an aside to that I've not seen the prevalent problems with my OfficeJet and LaserJet MFPs as they are connected to my router via Ethernet cable.

The only thing maybe is to try to find a free scanning program without an annual charge. So search on that and try npsscan which i need to try too. I think it's free but then I think there is a newer version by the creators that is a paid version. I know there are very few scanning programs that are free and there are few paid ones with a free trial that are supposed to accommodate older scanners as well as newer ones. Good luck to both of us
