    AnyDesk has gone bonkers - HUNDREDS of Errors in Event Viewer

    AnyDesk is excellent. But starting Aug 11, 2022 at 8:25:29 PM ET, I am getting HUNDREDS of Error messages in Event Viewer (one os copied and pasted below), and they make no sense. They happen on the Remote machine, and they start whenever I remote in from where I am sitting, using AnyDesk.

    My version of AnyDesk is 7.0.14, my version of Windows is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit v 21H2.

    Here's what I'm seeing in Event Viewer, over and over - and note that it says "base.data.file_config_layer - File config layer update failed."

    Log Name: Application
    Source: AnyDesk
    Date: 8/12/2022 6:31:43 PM

    </System>
    <EventData>

    </Data>
    </EventData>
    </Event>

    Thoughts? Could this have been triggered by Win 10 updates on Aug 9?

    Have you tried uninstalling Anydesk,then in Powershell >as administratoe running ---dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth---followed by ---sfc /scannow ---then reinstalling Anydesk and see if the problem recurs ?
    Does Reliability History have any entries connected to the problem ?
    If a Restore point exists prior to the update,then disconnect from the internet and activate that point and see if the system functions normally. Then reconnect and allow the update to take effect and if the error returns,the update is the culprit.

    joeandmarg0 - thanks for your suggestions;

    What is "Reliability History "?

    Also, this is happening on a much-needed production machine in my wife's office, and from experience restoring to a Restore Point is problematic, and I am fearful of deleting files done recently by my wife's staff.

    I might take Susan's suggestions to uninstall the August updates.

    Update - I just UNinstalled both 2022-08 updates, KB5016616 and KB5012170, but the Anydesk Error flood continues, and it is a flood.

    So, this does NOT seem to be caused by the 2022-08 updates.

    Press Win key + R key together to invoke the Run dialog. Type perfmon /rel then press the Return/Enter key.

    You'll be presented by an easy-to-read graph showing the reliability history of the device. For example:

    Hope this helps...

    Rick C - I attached the trace file at AskWoody. But, here, thanks for your guide to perfmon /rel, which I'd never seen before. It was interesting but did not pick up any of the gazillion AnyDesk Errors in Event Viewer.

    Update -- I have soft uninstalled AnyDesk version 7 something and reinstalled an earlier version - version 6.2.3 -- and set it NOT to do updates.

    So far, after a few hours, there are NO Event Viewer Errors when I remote into that machine.

    I'll continue to test and let you know.

    After downgrading to AnyDesk 6.2.3, the flood of errors has stopped.
