What is the most reliable Pro Grade Driver Update Software for W10 PC?

    Hey guys,

I am wanting to find a Pro grade Driver Update software for W10 Home v21H1 that I can rely on
to do it's job and would still work when we upgrade to W11.
I am happy to pay for one if it is truly reliable.

I am looking for something that can first of all Identify the Drivers and the latest versions installed,
then can either send me to a site that is either the manufacturer or a site that has the latest drivers or can install it,
reliably. I have tried to going to manufacturers sites but I have so many it would take me weeks of searching.

I have tried the cheap versions of various apps but I find that they are unreliable and at best are
not able to even update the Drivers they say they can. I get many reasons like we can not find
yr driver is the most common or they send me to another site that wants to sell me another subscription.

So this time instead of the blind leading the blind, meaning myself, I thought I would ask you guys,
the pro's. What apps do you rely on for this, that actually do their job and that you can recommend.

    Thanks for yr help.

    Cheers Kev

I'm not sure if you'll get many positive responses on this.

My own drivers that might want occasional updates:

    graphics card
    motherboard chipset
    network controller
    audio

I don't find keeping these updated onerous. I admit that my desk PCs are AMD based at the moment, and AMD doesn't make driver updates as confusing as Intel. (I have used Intel systems in the past. I'm Intel/AMD/nVidia agnostic.)

For your motherboard, it may be simplest to use the drivers provided by Asus. (ASUS ROG RAMPAGE VI EXTREME | ROG - Republic Of Gamers | ASUS USA) They may not always be the latest, but they should be OK. (Side note: when getting the chipset drivers, also get the MEI drivers, which are a pulldown under "chipset".)

It may be worth bookmarking the sites where the drivers are, if they are hard for you to find.

There is other software (not drivers) that may want updates, but usually each has its own update detection feature.

Try---nirsoft.net/utils/driverview.html---and see if it meets your needs.
The safest method is if everything works, leave it that way.

There are older lengthy threads on this... conclusion ... DON'T USE THESE.

Please feel free to search the site for this recurrent topic.

I don't know of anyone claiming their PC was 30% faster or gained new features by updating drivers. If your PC is working well- leave well alone.

The only time you should be looking for updated drivers is if one of your hardware components isn't working properly. Updating your drivers because you want the newest shiny version will eventually result in you posting a follow-up message "Help! I updated my drivers and now xxxxx isn't working/machine keeps rebooting/bsod!"

Happens a lot on this and other forums.

    Hi,

I use Snappy Driver Installer Origin, for initial installation then troubleshoot if required.

Once everything is good. I nearly never upgrade any drivers except if it start to cause problems.

My vote is don't use any. Let Windows handle it, or get driver's from manufacturers' websites.

I want to say 3rd party driver updaters are Snake Oil, but that's really pretty negative, so I won't.

Manufacturers/Vendors are the reliable source for drivers. Don't update drivers just because you can; there should be a good reason.

Haven't found many reasons to look for "better" drivers with OEM machines or even the 3 Custom Desktops I use, everything seems to be okay using Update and Security. But then I'm not a gamer or video editor that may need the latest/greatest/fastest.

    Hey guys,
Thanks for yr replies and ideas, and yes I agree with you, I normally would not need to go here or even muck around but I have tried multiple times to updates these Drivers and failed each time.
The problems I have had is first off trying to even find the right drivers and secondly when I think I have the right drivers after going to the manufacturers site and gone ahead and updated them the errors still remain.

For example take the RTX2080, I ran the NVIDIA Cleanup.exe tool which Nvidia sent me, which removes all old drivers, profiles, the Geforce Experience dashboard and control panel, restarted, then updated all the drivers, restarted and the error message is still there. I did that several times as well. So then I completely uninstalled them, restarted and then reinstalled and still no luck.

So as you can see and already know, it's very frustrating and I am not sure where to go to from here and even though my PC is running, I am still having weird app crashes, windows 10 settings are not always updating and if they do when I reboot, those settings have reverted back to the previous state or some might stay, slower than normal and takes forever to boot up.
A lot of people just laugh and say that's normal for Windows, don't worry about it.

But to me that doesn't sound right, those error marks are there for a reason as you know and something must be setting them off, So I am lost at the moment after going thru all the normal fixes and from what I can remember this has only started happening since late September Early October.

And from what I have read so far it does not seem to be related to the W11 upgrade changes like TPM, Secure Boot or UEFI Bios changes, but I don't know for sure.
I am even thinking that it might be Hardware related, but I just don't know.

I have posted a pic of my Device Manager and the Red Arrows show the Driver Errors and Devices.
I have also listed the Devices and Driver Versions if this helps, so if you have any ideas I am all ears,
and thanks again for yr time guys I appreciate it always.
