Can you remove just one USB drive from the Safely Remove list?

I was thinking along the same lines. I re-named the drive "BACKUP (WD Elements 2620)" to make it stand out in the list but as you can see the drive's name and the drive letter don't stand out very well in the list.

I think just being careful is the closest thing to a solution to this....

The bold text in the list is what is active, what one clicks on.

    Hi Bob

Would it help you to never eject the device if you rename it something like 'DoNotEject' or 'DoNotEjectBU'?

It would be difficult to mistakenly eject the device if you only read the name.

BTW, I spent much more time than I'm willing to admit exploring the registry files & tweaking DWORD values. No luck yet.

Right. Note that the bold part isn't the drive letter of its name so no matter what you change them to it doesn't stand out.

That's why I named it BACKUP in capitals.

Until a few months ago the backup drive (then a My Book) was plugged into the network drive as someone on the WD forum recommended I do about 5 years ago. When the My Book started acting up someone on the WD forum told me it was probably because I had it plugged into the network drive instead of the computer.
In the intervening few months I accidentally ejected the My Book several times. because I wasn't used to anything being in that list except the drive I just plugged in to move files onto to off of. That was profoundly annoying because the only way to get the computer to recognize it again was to unplug it, re-plug it and wait several minutes for it to show up in Windows Explorer (not that I needed to access it - I just wanted to know it would be there at backup time).

The new drive shows up in a few seconds so that is far less of an issue but I thought if there was a simple way to prevent it from happening it might be worth doing it.

Even permanently moving it to the bottom of the list would be an improvement but I don't think that is possible either.
