Your 4TB has probably failed which keeps Windows from booting. You can remove the drive from the computer an attach it via a USB adapter with a power adapter. Once the drive is powered up, you can put your ear next to it, is it spinning up? Or spinning up then spinning down? Or is it making a clicking or scraping sound? If so, this drive has failed and needs to be replaced.

Really? Even if I can see and access all of its contents when using Win10PE? (as shown in my "screen" shot)

The health of the drive is probably in jeopardy. I would copy the data off to another drive or Cloud Service, and run Diagnostics on the drive from different Windows PE drive or on another computer via a USB Adapter. Running a program like Disk Genius in my signature or other HDD Diagnostic tool

OK thanks - speaking of copying the data ...my backup prior to crash was probably 98% up-to-date.
I'd like to finish the job while inside Win10PE. I tried to run the portable version of FreeFileSync (which has been my solution for years) but I keep getting a popup saying error because installation files are missing. I notice that Bob Ombs had a bunch of programs included on the ISO and I thought it would be just a matter of adding FreeFileSync (portable) in the Programs folder with the rest and running the executable. Is there something else I need to do for a program to work in WinPE?

The WinPE runs on a RAM disk. As soon as you shutdown or reboot any changes will be gone.
You can download Seatools and save it to your USB drive.
Boot from the WinPE, browse to the Seatools and run it.

One possibility to get at data files: run Reflect off the USB stick and create an image of the suspect drive on one of the others (if there is room!), then boot Windows with duff drive disabled, open the the image file as a drive and run your backup on that. May be slow.

Thanks for the tip. After seeing the results on this drive (SMART Fail, Short DST Fail), I've decided to cut my losses.
I was able to manually transfer what was missing on my backup. Will be wiping all data, removing from the PC tower, and bringing to BestBuy for recycling.

    Hi,

A nice WDBlack, If the drive is not very old you can check if you could not RMA it.
