Just a couple of thoughts:
a. you can monitor drives for degradation and get an alert for free- hopefully before catastrophic failure. E.g. Crystal Diskinfo free - and HD Sentinel too.
b. If you routinely use disk imaging, then the act of creating a disk image checks the integrity of the data being imaged. If corruption is found, image creation will fail.
That's how I found one drive was beginning to fail, confirmed using HD Sentinel.
Samsung SSDs are available in my nation.
If I were to buy an SSD, I would not consider a local brand.

That was an impressive 888 bad sectors.
The Crucial scanner is useful in finding different options (size, speed, etc).
Then you can use these results for comparison.
