Can I use 3200Mhz RAM for a laptop running on 2666

I bought a new laptop that has 16 GB RAM. I want to upgrade it to 32GB. Now I also have an older dell laptop that runs on 2666RAM. Can I install the extra 16GB 3200 that I'll be left with into the 8GB laptop (by removing its RAM obviously)?
Would putting the 3200 RAM into the 2666 laptop cause any damage?
Thank you, I hope I made this post in the right place of the forum.

Without details of the laptop it should work but will run at a lower to match the other there could be imcompatabilty issues but give it a shot

The Dell G7 7588 laptop has 2 slots and supports a maximum of 32 GB(16 GB x 2) of RAM.
It supports 1.2 volt, Unbuffered, Non-ECC, DDR4-2666 MHz and DDR4-3200 MHz modules.
As already said, if you install two 16 GB modules with different speeds, they will run at the slower speed.

No, I will be installing 2X8 GB for a total of 16 to replace my 8GB but they are running at 2666. My new RAM (16 total) is at 3200

I have several Notebooks and the main thing I have to be aware of is whether the modules are DDR2, DDR3 or DDR4 [the types shouldn't interchange in the sockets on them]. I have WinXP, WinVista, Win8.1 and Win10 on them and even one older with MS-DOS 6.x and Win3.1 [which won't even take DDR].
