    External Drives And Cost

Just bought a Seagate 4TB external drive for only £83 ($100???). Delighted. Now I have 5TB of external storage for all my docs and thousands of images

Sounds good value- did you buy two so you can back it up?

Another method is to buy a two disk "dock" for about £35.00, USB connected, self powered and OEM internal hard disks which are cheaper. The dock allows for very simple disk swapping with the added bonus of a self powered clone feature, doesn't need a computer to work.

I've gone a different way lately, I have a number of tool-less 3.5" cases and a hot swap caddy in my Main system, my spare disks for backup, transport or just temporary storage are on a shelf in cases, (just storage cases similar to the old style VHS cassette case), so I can simply slot the drive into the caddy or if it's for use elsewhere it takes seconds to pop a drive into a portable USB 3.1 Case.

I also have a few 1TB M2 SSDs in 10GB USB-C cases for use when more mobile and these will fit my laptop and phone in addition to my desktop

Its only for storage; my 500GB SSD is my C drive, and I try to steer all downloads/installations away to what is now my 'F' drive (4TB). Most of my games have been transfered there too. I also have a 2TB 'I' drive and another drive so loads of space now. Lovely feeling. Memories going aback as far as an initial 108MB HDD on my very first PC. (Win 3.11). Oh and 100GB Google Drive. Overkill, maybe but a lot of the important stuff is copied 2-3 times around the drives.

Hope you dont smoke. When I was in the army in N Ireland, I ran the telex room married to Ops. I cant now but I could read the dots on the tape, slowly, into english. I had two, they were very the same as this; incl the switches on the side. Slot on the left was making a tape or a tape of incoming, slot on the right was transmission.
