    Extra RAM for OLD Laptop

Does anyone know of ANY good sites where I can get an EXTRA 4GB of RAM [ Preferably FREE P&P ] for an OLD Laptop please?

I think I might have a job getting some RAM because of the MHz.

I have obviously researched this [ eBay, Amazon, General, etc ] and found that RAM can still be pretty expensive, even for OLD Laptops!

    Code:

    Make : Fujitsu.
    Model : LifeBook AH530 GL / Pentium P6200
    RAM : 4096 MB DDR3 SDRAM

    Thanks.

    Paul,

Bree beat me to it. I would also always think of Crucial first.

In addition to being able to select computers by brand & model, Crucial have a detection facility [Upgrade my computer, Scanner] that can ensure it only suggests the right hardware for the computer concerned.

Even if you think you will end up going elsewhere in an effort to save money, checking with Crucial first will give you a good steer.
    - The only time I have tried to use them that cynically, I found that the Crucial-recommended hardware was on sale by Crucial themselves at a lower price on Amazon UK and that it was just about the best price available from any seller that could be regarded as dependable.

    All the best,
    Denis

Yes, and Crucial UK are currently offering the 2x4GB kit at £37.19 - less than half original price.

Thanks for the replies @Try3 & @Bree, it is appreciated.

I have added that site to Bookmarks. My Laptop runs very nicely on 4GB, but it never hurts to have more, hence my question. I will continue investigations as this isn't a priority and is more money than I can afford at present. I might have to ask Santa.

    Hello @SIW2,

I think it is going to be the MHz that is going to cause me a problem.

It is fine. Ram that is faster than the mobo officially supports will just run at less than its max speed . Crucial suggests 1600mhz for your machine, probably because they dont have anything slower in stock.

It is much cheaper at Cex at £6 per 4gb stick. You would obviously want to get two sticks, rather than just adding one to your existing 4gb.

That is good information. So do you think that the FIRST item on Cex [ 4 GB PC12800 DDR3 1600MHz 204 Pin Memory ] will work according to my specifications in Post #1 please?

    Crucial say it will work.

There might be a Cex branch nearby that has stock - in which case you can pop in and buy it. Otherwise, they will post it for a small charge. 24 month warranty.
type in your postcode and click the little search icon

I have had quite a few things from them. I made a mistake and bought the wrong item once, dropped it back in a few days later for an instant refund, no problem.
