Replacing hard drives on RAID 1

I am needing to replace 2 (each 1T) hard drives in my PC. It has RAID 1. I unboxed the first new hard drive (2T) and physically installed it. I thought it would automatically copy from the existing 1T drive to the new 2T drive when I booted up. Apparently, I was wrong. I looked for tutorial with no success. I have Windows 10 Pro, version 2004, and build 19041.630.

Not sure where to go from here.

What sort of RAID controller are you using?

If it's an Intel system with the RST drivers, see: Rebuilding Degraded RAID Volume After Failed Drive Is Replaced

I'm not certain what you'll get with a different sized replacement HD. I have not used RAID in many years.

You'd get better advice by supplying much more information.

I have found the following information:

    AMD FX(tm)-4130 Quad-Core Processor

    In device manager:
    AMD ACHI compatable Raid controller
    AMD Raid Console
    Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller

I made an image before I replaced both drives. I installed the image to one drive (boot drive), then installed the 2nd drive in hopes that the boot drive info would be written to the 2nd drive. It did not.

I am only replacing the hard drives due to age. They still work.

    Hi,

If you have an image of your Raid.

Replace both drives. Create your Array, then restore your image to it.

It's the simplest way to migrate your data and expand your partitions to use the space of your new drives at the same time.

AMD Raid console is accessible By pressing CTRL+R when bios displays that it is loading the AMD Controller.
Then there is an option to create Array.

On your screenshot we can see your 2 drives appears as individual drives.

With a Mirror array you should see only one Drive. With A logical Name like AMDRaid1 SCSI device...

I appreciate the the guide but it does not work for me. Mine is ctrl F and looks nothing like the guide you sent. Not to mention I have no idea how to do it.

I have seen videos using storage spaces. Do you think that would work. The drives that were in the PC before I put the new drives in, have the same data on both hard drives. Not sure how that was set up but again, do you think the storage spaces way will work? Otherwise its over my head.

    OK, not Intel.

    What's your motherboard?

I have never used Storage Spaces, but there is a mode that is very similar to RAID 1. Windows 10 Storage Spaces vs RAID: Difference and Data Protection
