Paper Problem Error
Running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (21H1). Printer is a Samsung ML-2955ND connected via ethernet.
After printing an envelope in Word 2007 (or using Manual Feed in any app for that matter), any subsequent attempt to print (in any app) fails with a 'Paper Problem' error.
Latest printer drivers are installed. I can try:
- Removing the printer, then adding the printer again or
- Stop/start the Print Spooler or
- Power cycling the printer or
- Restarting Windows
None of these fix the problem.
The really odd thing is that I can still print a test page through the SyncThru Web Service when all Windows apps will fail (presumably because Windows is being bypassed altogether).
The only solution I've found that seems to work is: shut down Windows, power cycle the printer, and power up Windows.
I print envelopes infrequently, but this problem began 1-2 years ago. Before that it never occurred. Perhaps related to some Windows update.
Just wondering if anyone has experienced a similar problem and found a better solution. Thanks!
UPDATE 1: As a test, I disconnected the ethernet and connected the printer via USB. Problem does not occur on USB.
UPDATE 2: I switched back to ethernet and found that the original printer had been uninstalled. I had to reinstall the printer and now the problem appears to be gone. Previously when I removed and added the printer again, the printer was cached or something, as it did not go through a complete install process.
Oh the wonders of Windows...
