Dell G5 Windows 10 - All usb ports stopped working

I have a Dell G5 gaming laptop that started having issues out of no-where. First, the wireless adapter completely stopped working. I had to go into device manager and uninstall the adapter and then scan for hardware changes to get it working again. I have had to do it one more time when it stopped working again so far. In parallel with this issue (although I cannot prove this since I didn't try using any USB device till later that evening), all of my USB ports stopped working. I have tried doing the same fix for these in the device manager, but that did not work. I have tried updating all the USB port drivers with 3rd party software (Driver Booster 8), but that did not fix the issue either. All My USB ports have been tested with multiple devices (confirmed working device on other machine) in all 3 ports. Anyone have any clue what could be going on? This happened while I was away from my computer, no new .exe file ran at the time or anything like that.

    Side notes:
-The device I was trying to plug in when I discovered this usb was a USB xbox controller that has always worked fine with this machine. The controller vibrates briefly like normal (so something is detected), but does not turn on or pair with the machine. Same issue with other controllers. They CAN connect via bluetooth. Any help is MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

-No updates system updates have been performed on this machine recently. The usb drivers property info says they were downloaded april 21. This was completely random when it happened.

Sounds like some probably minor hardware issue like a connection internally.. but that's just a guess. But hard to fix if so.

I have tried updating all the USB port drivers with 3rd party software (Driver Booster 8)
Many long-standing members here strongly recommend against the use of driver updater tools (see various discussions).
I would only suggest trying one where a driver cannot be found by normal means.

Run the Dell Support Assist and see if it notes any needed driver updates.
What is the specific model number for your G5, there are several different models.
I looked at one G5's Dell download list and no USB drivers which suggest the default Microsoft drivers are all that are available.

Do not use the driver sites, especially on a Dell as it has proprietary hardware and drivers. Many times the driver sites will install older version or incorrect driver versions. For example, Dell's require the Dell model specific Realtek sound driver as it works in conjunction with Waves MaxxAudio pro. MaxxAudio only works with the Dell sound driver. One of the MaxxAudio functions is audio jack detection.

Although this is a great support forum, Dell has support forums with user experts. Here is the link to the Dell Inspiron laptop forum (the Inspiron forum is the correct section for G5's).

Thank you both for the replies and help. I now know never to use 3rd party apps like that. Thanks for the heads up. I did however, solve my problem! I had to reboot into the BIOS menu and load the factory defaults and wallah! Any idea what may have caused this? I can't prove this was related to the wireless card failing as well, but a pretty strange coincidence.
