New PC build, keyboard not detected, can’t enter bios

    Hello,

I am a 5th grader building my first pc. I built and finished my pc but when I try to run the setup with the keyboard it says no keyboard detected. I have been doing research but I can’t find anything that will fix it. This is what the screen looks like when I turn it on.

If you know how to fix it please let me know. It would be helping me so much. THANKS!

hello tdudebro and welcome to the forums. Could you tell us what you have done to try to solve this problem and what keyboard and mouse you are using?

    Have you:
    tried a different keyboard
I trust you are using a USB Keyboard
tried a different USB port - You have USB 3.2 USB ports as well as USB 2.0 ports. Use the USB 2.0 ports at least until you get things working.
Are you sure the keyboard works?

Plug your keyboard into one of the ports (in the RED circle), on the rear of the computer...

    /edit

If the keyboard is still not detected, turn the computer off, turn the switch on the power supply OFF.
Gently remove the CMOS battery (in RED circle), wait 5 minutes and put it back in.
Turn the switch on the power supply on, and then turn the computer on.

This is one way to reset the BIOS to defaults.

is a Logitech k800 keyboard. I have plugged the keyboard into several different USB ports in the front and the back (including the port @Ghot recommended) I know the keyboard works because my dad uses it. I have tried holding f2 and f1 when the computer turns on.

ONLY plug the keyboard into one of the ports I circled in RED.

See my edit, above. You need to reset the BIOS to defaults.

Only press the F1 key if the splash screen tells you to. Otherwise, F2 or DEL are the keys to enter the BIOS.

Do NOT use a wireless keyboard for this. Use ONLY a wired keyboard.
You can use a wireless keyboard later, when you have the "drivers" installed.

If you don't have a wired keyboard...get a cheap one at Walmart... like $12

Yeah, USB 2 for BIOS support, newer boards may support combination USB2/USB3 ports but otherwise the Operating System has to load to get USB 3 support. Haven't heard it lately but used to be use the USB ports closest to the power supply.

You might have mentioned that the K800 is a wireless keyboard.

As suggested by "Ghot" (post 5), it may not function properly without drivers. The drivers may not be present in the initial Windows installation.

I can't confirm that personally, as I only use wired keyboards. (USB. I even have a PS/2 keyboard around, but I haven't needed to use it for years.)

Been using a couple of Logitech K120 keyboards for years. About $15US at Bestbuy, Walmart, or Target. (Ridiculous pricing at Amazon, for no obvious reason.) I don't know where you live, but I hope that you have ready access to inexpensive USB keyboards.

The K800 keyboard has a rechargeable battery. Turn the power switch to on. Make sure battery status is OK. Otherwise, use the cable that came with the keyboard to charge its battery.

I have a Logitech MK550 (wireless keyboard & mouse combo).

    • Keyboard: Logitech K350
    • Mouse: Logitech M510

Both the keyboard and mouse worked during the Windows 10 installation. I only installed other software later. The software was only for button configuration and battery status.

Note I have never had to use a wired keyboard with my computer. Wireless works fine even in the BIOS.

You may even be able to borrow one from someone. You should only need it for the setup in bios and installing drivers in the OS. After that, your wireless keyboard should work.
