Integrated USB unit in HP OfficeJet Pro 6830 doen't appear anymore

The integrated USB unit port of the printer Hp OfficeJet Pro 6830 doen't appear in Windows 10 as an unit device letter anymore...

I mean, before the issue, I had these units letter showed:

    C: my primary sdd unit

    D: my hdd USB unit

Z: the USB unit integrated in the Hp OfficeJet Pro 6830 printer (indifferent that there was an USB key inserted or not).

NOW the unit Z: in the peripherical list appear ONLY when there is inserted an USB device in the USB printer slot, while BEFORE the issue, the USB of the printer was listed in the peripherical list ALSO when nothing was inserted in USB port...

    What could be happened ?

    Thanks in advance.

I see the same thing on the HP OfficeJet models [8600, rehabbed 8620, rehabbed 8712 and new 9015], the USB port does work when scanning and storing of those scans on a thumb drive.

To explain the number of printers, the 8620 came out of a business and the 8712 from an animal shelter which got the Ethernet port broken when dropped in moving.

Sorry, the info following NOW wasn't showing, page must not have finished loading.

For the assignment of the drive letter Z:, a USB device should take the next letter available. Used to be when Mapping a drive or drives Windows would start lettering with Z: and work back up the alphabet when adding more, my NAS drives use Y: and Z:.

I have no explanation or experience why yours is working that way. Have you tried Disk Management to assign a different letter and gain access? The ports on my computers don't show in "Safely remove" until they have a device plugged in.

Also possible is a Windows update messed with the HP software, I've found it necessary to re-install a couple of times on clients' machines with the USB connection [there were posts on forums about that or uninstalling an update], never a problem with Ethernet-connected drives.

I find now myself the solution: I had just to unselect: HYDE EMPTY DRIVES in Folder Options and fortunately my issue was solved...
