Thanks... but... it doesn't ask me to plug in the usb cable on my pc. Thanks again for your reply.
    Yes the hardware is working...
Yes, I've done that. The problem is, after I install it on LPT1 port, they advice me to change the port to usb port, but there is no such thing on my "machine"...
But it does ask you to connect the printer

    Step Two
    11. Connect the USB cable to the product, and connect the USB cable to the computer. A Device driver software was not successfully installed window opens.

    Step three:
    3. Click the drop down menu, and then change the port from LPT1 to USB or DOT4.virtual

If you connect the printer in Step two #11 then maybe when you get to Step three #3 there will be USB port in the list.

I tried that a several times without success. The computer does not react at all to me plugging in the usb cable - printer is on.. Anyway, I try to find a usb port in the list - no such thing again.
I 'll try it on my other computer, win8.1 too, but I think I did try it already.
The third computer is running on win 7, there there is not an LPT1 option even in the beginning add a printer drop down menu.

In fact, when I tried the first time there was an automatic installation box when I plugged in the usb cable and unknown device item appeared in the printers list, but since then, no reaction.. I must have done something to disable the auto detection..

Seems you have done it, apart from the USB port.

From point 1:30 That shows you how to manually create a virtual USB printer port.

It is only a basic HP driver so you won't get fancy dialogue boxes/animations about installing/connecting printer and all the options of a full feature driver.
I used to have a Deskjet 990c with Windows 8.1 but never had to create the USB port manually as it was already present.

I followed the steps. "Petarch" is my comp's name. Maybe I get closer to the solution but still, no signs of connection to the printer.

    Thank you.
