    WD MyBook code 10 in newer Win10PE versions

    Hi
    MyBook external usb HHD cannot run in newer Win10PE environments

    Other usb devices - no problem.
    Additionally i don't have this with older versions of PE or RE.
    Can somebody please confirm this, or shed some light.

    Have you checked your pagefile settings? The error in your screenshot calls it out pretty specifically.

    Not enough virtual memory or paging file quota is available to complete the specified operation

    This HDD seems to need pagefile for some reason, but since it's Win10XPE or similar environment things might not be straightforward.
    I've tried to set pagefie in Win10XPE but got the same message when MyBook was connected.
    Other HDD's hooked up with SATA/usb cable work OK.
    In older versions based on Win10PESE MyBook was able to run

    Set it higher or let the system manage the pagefile

    well,
    i've tried this route as mentioned above
    2.36GB pagefile is created on the RAM disk but when MyBook is connected gives code 10.

    Then you will need to contact the makers of Win10PE and let them know you found a bug

    Two weeks ago you got told "It appears to be memory related - One would need to duplicate the hardware to confirm.." in that thread.

    Linking to that thread does not change my answer at all.

    Win10xpe is just a shell that lets you build a custom installer.

    That custom installer is doing something to the pagefile.....

    I got 2 x 4TB My Book [not My Book Live] and they came formatted as exFAT, package was marked as usable on PC and Macintosh. Mac OS X and the newer macOS can usually read NTFS but need more work to write to it. After my MacBook Pro died I reformatted them to NTFS, work good on Windows and Linux [which can use several formats].

    thanks
    @Berton
    perhaps you could confirm my findings since you own 4G MyBooks.
    At least i'd know that i'm not the only one with that problem.
    @tomdsr
    linking my prior post i wanted to show that PE makers were notified.
