Disk Manager shows wiped (clean) drive to be partitioned with data.

Hi TenForums:
I wiped a backup drive with Wipe Drive software.

I connected my "working drive" to the system with the clean drive connected also.
Disk Manager showed the wiped (clean) drive to be partitioned with data.

Do you have any comments?

If the drive is a HDD,not SSD,then Dban is an extremely efficient drive cleaner and is worth trying.
There should not be any material remaining on a wiped disk.

joeandmarg0: The drive is HDD. Yes, the drive was cleaned. Apparently, Disk Manager has a problem.

Spunk: The drives are not mixed-up. Acronis True Image WD showed the drive to be clean and not initialized.

Did you delete the partition itself? Diskpart shows disk usage by partition, not by data. If, for example, you have a 32 GB partition on a disk, it will show 32 GB of space used on that disk, even though the partition may not even be formatted.

On your working disk,in Powershell>run as administrator,type in---sfc /scannow---and afterwards---dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth---which should clean any file corruption affecting Disk Management,if it is at fault.

I did not delete the partition. I actually cloned my working drive to the cleaned drive.

sfc/scannow reports no problems with the system. I run in command prompt as administrator.
Chkdsk also reports no problems.

You cloned your working drive to the "cleaned" drive and are now surprised that it contains partitions and data?

That's how it reads. What is the real story?

Ha, ha. You are correct. This issue may read this way. However, no. The original problem was Disk Manager was showing partitions on a cleaned drive. Perhaps Disk Manager has a malfunction.

Any space on a drive that is not in a partition will show as unallocated space in disk management. If the drive has no partitions on it, the drive will show entirely as one big unallocated space. Are you sure that you initially deleted the partition that was on the drive and did not just "clean" the partition itself?
