Latest Synaptics Touchpad Driver for Windows 10

I went back to the last Toshiba one from 2016. It worked this time, but did not when I tried using it in the past. Thanks for the answers!!

I'm having problems with my touchpad and after 2 days of trying, I'm hoping that someone can help.

I updated Win 10 to the creators update, and it replaced my touchpad driver with the precision touchpad driver (which I can't stand), and I can't figure out how to get it back.

I have a Samsung series 9 (NP900XL5), that was working perfectly until the update. I have tried downloading and installing various Synaptics drivers (from various places on the internet, as neither Samsung nor Synaptics currently have drivers available for download), but to no joy.

When I run the setup, it appears to work fine, and tells me the drivers have been installed, but there is no change, and it's still showing as a precision touchpad in settings, and I don't have my old gesture controls back.

I've also tried to update the drivers in device manager, but I'm wondering if part of the problem is that I just don't know which driver I should be updating. In Device Manager, I have the following listed under "Human Interface Device":
- HID-compliant vendor-defined device
- I2C HID Device
- Microsoft Input Configuration Device
- Samsung PTP Component Device

These all seem related to the touchpad, and if I disable the I2C HID Device, all the others disappear. If I disable this or the Samsung PTP Component Device the touchpad stops working completely (not unexpected!)

There is also "HID-compliant mouse" listed under "Mice and other pointing devices".

I've tried updating the driver for each of these to the various synaptics ones that I've downloaded, but can't get it working.

If anyone can offer any advice/help I'll be eternally grateful - I'm getting so frustrated at the loss of one finger scrolling and the awful palm sensitivity!

found a synaptic driver that windows update does not remove.
used to use synaptic touchpad driver 19.0.19.1 then used a program that updates drivers and it put on an synaptic clickpad driver 19.3.4.31 and so far working fine

Synaptics no longer appear to offer driver downloads on the page linked in the first post.

Anyone know where to find one? The latest Windows update has rendered my touchpad completely non-functional.

I had been using the generic Synaptics driver with my ThinkPad because it allowed me to use the upper middle click button as a standard middle-click. The Lenovo-supplied driver made it so that you had to hold it down to scroll and it wouldn't open links. I can't remember exactly what the issues were, but the generic driver fixed them.

Looks like I'll have to resort to questionable 3rd-party download sites now

Came across your post as I just installed my ThinkPad as well and was looking for the driver. Luck has it I also had an copy of it in a downloads folder in one of my backups. This download from TechSpot has the same checksum as the one I downloaded from Synaptics about a year ago, so that should be good to use. :)

@DvdGiessen Dude, you're a lifesaver! Searched for the MD5 on DuckDuckGo and went with DriversCloud link (seemed the least sketchy lol). Verified the downloaded file using HashTab (which I highly recommend, just right-click > Properties > File Hashes > paste the correct hash into the comparison box to verify against the calculated hashes).
