    Hardware issue-USB3 external Disk.

USB [mainly] USB3 CABLE connectors: The new SSD disks are really a pain keeping connected as the Connectors are so small they do not to stay connected. The female connector is small not like the older BIGGER USB1 and USB3 did. The slightest wiggle they come loose and Windows and its buffers do not like that.

ANY trick, "pinching' of the MALE/FEMALE, trick to keep them MATED better?

    Thanks.

Well... not a very high tech solution, but I would just use a little piece of tape.
I wouldn't mess around with "pinching" the connector. Not on tiny connectors like that.

There is this tape, that looks like aluminum foil (thick) on one side. You can get it at Home Dept.
We used to call it... 100 mile an hour tape.

This stuff is REALLY sticky. Just a tiny little 1/4" wide strip about 1" long would hole that connector in... no problem.

Anyone that works in the heating and air conditioning business probably has some. Or you could just buy it.

On the USB disk side I used drop of hot glue, also (lol) not loose the cable.

Just to be clear, which end of the cable are you speaking of?

The "smaller" end at the PC would have to be USB-C. I have found those to be as good or better than the old USB-A types. (With the added plus of not being keyed.)

At the drive end, that could be min or micro USB (which I find to be distressingly similar in size, although completely incompatible with each other). The suggestions for stick solutions seem practical there.

I glue a small piece of window seal foam to one side of the usb C connector. It is a very soft compressible foam.
When plugged into my laptop, it always creates a slight upward pressure. No more disconnects.

    Thanks ALL.
The 'glue' is a little unpractical as I have about 'half dozens' of there type C? drives.
    The TAPE should work.
But don't fully understand the FOAM, mainly the PRESSURE is applied from where to where? I don't see where the foam touches anywhere. These connectors MALE and FEMALE are poorly designed as the older one are larger and fit tight. The create a 'high' pressure in both fitting. But plugging in and out of this tiny connector makes them loose. They need a "snap" at these size.

Concerning the foam, my computer is a laptop, the USB C connection is on the side of the computer. The bottom of the connection is only about 3/16" above the table. The foam is 7/16" thick. I lift up the laptop a little and plug the USB C male, then set the laptop down. This compresses the foam, creating a constant upward pressure. No more disconnects.
