    Windows can't open Add Printer

Windows can't open Add Printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine.

    It's about a Windows 10 Pro / x86 system.
I've already installed many network printers that used to work perfect. But a few days ago I lost my printers.
I've already reset Spooler, empty Printers folder, check that Spooler is running in Services, check also Spooler dependencies in Registry but this error message remains

Anyone can help me with this issue ?

    Thanks

    Hi, you could try:
    a. using a suitable System Restore point
    b. Tweaking.com's free repair tool, choosing only the relevant repair:
    Windows can't open Add Printer-1.jpg

    The forum asked you this:
    Windows can't open Add Printer-win-10-version.png

It appears you are running build 1909 (under your Avatar & in specs).

Given these two, my next comment may threfore not be relevant.

    Update
    KB5004945 Windows 10 2004 19041.1083, 20H2 19042.1083, 21H1 19043.1083
is aimed at fixing a vulnerability wrt the printer services. It's actually not successful. Some users have reported issues after installing it (see comments following).

    Hi dalchina

    thank you for your reply
Unfortunately it's about my work system so I'll try your suggestion at Monday

It's about a Windows 10 Pro 20H2. (updated my profile)

There's no restore point because this problem happened long ago

Have you yet uninstalled that update?

And can you start the service manually?

Failing that, try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data - and for which you need a 20H2 iso file - freely downloadable.

    Tutorials available.

    Sorry but I'm confused.
This update is already installed and has no option for unistalling.

So what can I do ?

I can start the Spooler Service manually and now the error is
    Windows can't open Add Printer-remote-procedure.png

But even Spooler seems running the Start option is on.

So any other idea before an in-place upgrade repair install ?
